2020 has flown by, and 2021 is almost here! With the new year approaching, many people use this time to reflect on the passing year, while setting goals for the year ahead.
Many people create a “New Year’s Resolution” to set a goal of what they would like to accomplish in the new year. But for some, these resolutions sometimes only last a month or two into the year.

It's no secret that 2020 has given us all a reason to focus more on our health. That's why it's more important than ever that we're proactive and get back to see our doctors (as soon as we can safely, that is).
Open up your calendar and start planning when you are going to see each doctor this year. Start calling and making appointments so they are booked and on your calendar. When you do this first thing in the year, there is a much higher likelihood that you will attend all of your necessary appointments instead of getting delayed. The appointments are less likely to get forgotten or put off when life gets crazy when they are scheduled far in advance!
I understand that for some of us, this is easier said than done. However, it's the spirit of this resolution that should be taken to heart when going into 2021.
Commit to choosing the stairs instead of the elevator. Tell your friends and family about this commitment so they can help hold you accountable as well. Taking the stairs can be a simple way to get some physical activity into your day without adding much inconvenience. Repeated stair usage has also been linked to improved joint performance, so you'll be thanking yourself down the road!
Set a goal each day of how much water you would like to drink. Invest in a large water bottle and mark on the sides how much you should be drinking throughout the day. As we all know, water has amazing benefits, and many of us don't drink as much water as we should. Drinking water can have a positive impact on your energy levels, brain function, weight loss, and so much more. Hold yourself accountable and drink up!
In 2021, its recommended that you take some time to develop a skincare routine. Find out what products work for you, and what products your skin is needing. Rather than covering up with makeup, find products that will replenish your skin, and make you feel great without any makeup! Developing a schedule or routine can make it easier to ensure that you don’t forget.
And similarly to our previous tip, this is one of those resolutions that you'll really thank yourself for later. Investing in your skin will ensure that your body is healthy and looking the way you want for years to come. It's your body...don't put it off!
I know, I know...this is probably the most common New Year's Resolution ever. However, that doesn't make it any less important! Food is the fuel that our bodies need to function, and let's go into 2021 prepared to give it the best ingredients possible.
Eat more whole foods. These foods include: vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, white grains, and fish and all contain a ton of nutrients that your body needs. You can start slow, by adding at least one serving of vegetables each day. Starting slow will make it feel less like a huge change and may help you to continue eating healthy in the long run. Another thing to do is to aim for making at least one new dish a week. This will allow you to get comfortable making new recipes and begin broadening your palate.
