Cleaning your house top to bottom until it’s sparkling can be overwhelming, time-consuming, and tiring. When it comes to spring cleaning, you want to take it room by room. Between getting rid of clutter you no longer need or want and wiping down everything, it’s going to take you more than just one day to get it done. Remember to take your time and to not overwork yourself this spring! Whether you have five minutes to do a quick wipe down or a few hours, here are some useless and quick cleaning tips to get the job done.
Get your vacuum, duster, cleaning sprays, and rags ready!
-
Windows: When cleaning your windows, make sure you start on the shaded side of your home! If you clean the window in direct sun, it could leave streaks behind. It’s best to use a window cleaner and a microfiber cloth.
-
Garbage Disposal: If your kitchen sink has an odd smell to it that you can’t seem to get rid of try putting in slivers of lemon or orange peel. When you turn the disposal on, the citrus rinds will leave your sink, and kitchen, smelling wonderful.
-
Microwave:We all have those pesky stains inside our microwave from heating up food! Fill a microwave-safe bowl with 1 cup of water and put in several tablespoons of vinegar. Turn on your microwave until the solution boils or the window is steamy. Let it cool for five minutes before removing the bowl. Wipe the inside and outside with a sponge.
-
Cutting Boards: Have you been thinking about tossing your cutting board because of the marks that are on it that you believe are permanent? Don’t! Cut a lemon in half and run it over the board to remove food stains. If that doesn’t get the job done, do it again but add in a sprinkle of salt or baking powder!
-
Fridge: It’s important to wipe down your fridge’s interior shelving on a regular basis. One of the things many people don’t wash regularly is the bins that are located on the door! During your spring cleaning adventures, take out your bottom drawers and door bins, letting them soak in warm, soapy water. This will easily get rid of any food bacteria and spillage that may have been hiding!
-
Junk Drawer: We all have one, don’t worry! Empty out your mysterious treasures that have found residence in your drawer. Use the nozzle on the vacuum to suck out any dust or crumbs. Items you no longer need can be tossed. If there are items still of use to you, organize them and put them back in!
-
Furniture: Move your furniture away from walls so you can easily vacuum behind and underneath it. Switching to the upholstery tool, go over your cushions and underneath them. Finish it off with the crevice tool removing all the gunk in the nooks and crevices.
-
Fans: If you keep your ceiling fans on all year round, then there will more than likely be an extra amount of dust on them. Grab your duster and a broom and go to town wiping them down!
