It's Spring—Do That Thing You Love

Senior woman on a hiking trip in spring, knelt down to tie her shoe on a leafy trail.

Sure, April’s bringing a few rainy days, but hey, it’s SPRING! 🌸 The season of renewal, growth, and yes, even a few puddles to splash through. If you’re like me, it’s the perfect time to shake off that winter stiffness and start thinking about all those things we’ve been putting off.

I’ll be honest—I used to be really good at limiting myself.

“I can’t go for that walk; my knees will act up.”
“I should skip the gardening today; my back is sore.”
“I’ll just stay on the couch—too much movement hurts.”

Sound familiar? Yeah, I’ve been there. I was my own worst enemy when it came to trying new things or pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. I would tell myself, “Maybe next week. Maybe when I feel better.”

But guess what? That “maybe” never came. And let me tell you, it’s a shame because there’s so much more out there waiting for you—if you’re willing to take that first step. 💪

So, what changed for me? 🤔

One spring, after months of saying "no" to pretty much everything, I stood at the edge of my backyard, looked at the trail I used to walk every weekend, and said, “Why not? Let’s just give it a go.”

I mean, what did I have to lose? If it didn’t work, I’d turn around. But here’s the thing—I made it further than I thought. Slowly, of course. One step at a time. I could feel my joints, but I kept moving. And it felt...good. Like, really good.

That was the moment I stopped limiting myself. I realized that just because I was feeling some discomfort didn’t mean I had to stop doing the things I love. I just had to find a new way to do them. 🌟

From that day on, I stopped letting myself make excuses. Every step I took that day reminded me that just because I was getting older or dealing with discomfort didn’t mean I had to stop living. I just had to adjust and keep going.

Here’s the thing I want you to remember:

Don’t limit yourself before you’ve even tried.

If you’ve been avoiding something you love, or if you’ve been telling yourself it’s too much for your body right now—take a step back and think about it. What if you could still do it?

Here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Start small: Don’t plan a 5-mile hike when you haven’t moved much in a while. Try a short walk around the block.

  • Listen to your body: A little discomfort is normal, but don’t push yourself into pain.

  • Celebrate the small wins: If you walk for 5 minutes and feel good? That’s a win. Do it again tomorrow.

  • Be patient with yourself: Progress isn’t always a straight line. There will be days you feel better, and days you feel worse. That’s OK! 😊

Support your spring movement. Get back to the things you love—with a little help from Lifetones.

Now, think about this:

What’s something you’ve been avoiding because of your discomfort?

Maybe it’s gardening, walking, or just going for a simple stroll. Maybe it’s dancing again. 💃

What if you could do it anyway?

If you’re worried about discomfort getting in the way—remember, you’re not alone. I created Lifetones because I get it. I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to deal with stiff joints, muscle aches, and the frustration of feeling like you're stuck.

But the truth is, you don’t have to be. With a little help and some persistence, you can get back to doing what you love.

Here’s a challenge for you this spring:

This season, find something you’ve been holding off on—something small or big—and give it a go. It could be a walk, some gardening, or just getting outside. Whatever it is, take that first step. And then, I want to hear all about it! 😎

We’re in this together. You’ve got this.

Rooting for you always,
Brandon
