Hi there! It’s Brandon here, and welcome to our first Ask Me Anything of the new year! I love answering your questions because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that health is a journey we’re all on together.
This week’s question comes from Loreen J.
What’s the best way to detox after the holidays? I feel like I overdid it, and I want to start the year fresh.
So, confession time—I overindulged this holiday season. Between the pies, holiday cocktails, and that second (okay, third) serving of mashed potatoes, I went all in. While it was worth every bite, once the decorations come down and the stretchy pants are retired, it’s time to get back to feeling good again.
Luckily, I’ve been here before, and I’ve figured out a few tricks that always help me bounce back. Here’s how to hit the reset button in a healthy, sustainable way:
Water is your best friend when it comes to flushing out toxins and giving your body a fresh start. I make my water more interesting by adding cucumber slices, mint leaves, and a splash of apple cider vinegar. It’s refreshing, supports digestion, and feels like a mini spa treatment in a glass.
We all know how important veggies are, but after the holidays, they feel even more essential. After weeks of heavy, carb-loaded meals, I crave fresh, colorful foods.
My trick? Make meals as bright as possible. Think roasted carrots, purple cabbage slaw, and a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds over greens. Not only are they packed with nutrients, but they’re also a feast for the eyes.
Don’t underestimate the power of rest! Your body does a lot of detoxing while you sleep, so aim for 7-9 hours each night.
I do this—turn off screens an hour before bed and create a relaxing routine to wind down. It helps signal to my body that it’s time to rest, which is crucial for recovery and detoxing. Whether it’s reading a book, listening to calming music, or stretching, giving my mind and body that wind-down time makes a world of difference.
This is where I bring in the big guns. After a season of indulgence, I always reach for our Uric Acid Support to help balance things out and keep my joints happy. And lately, I’ve been pairing it with Energy & Adrenal Support to tackle that post-holiday slump. It’s like a one-two punch to reset and re-energize.
You don’t have to hit the gym hard—I’m not about punishing workouts after the holidays. Instead, focus on movement you enjoy—like a brisk walk outside (even if it’s chilly), stretching in front of the TV, or a quick yoga session to get your blood flowing. It’s about feeling good, not pushing too hard.
Remember, detoxing isn’t about perfection—it’s about giving your body the care it needs to feel great. Start with one or two of these tips and build from there. The important thing is taking that first step.
Here’s to feeling amazing in 2025! Keep those questions coming—I love hearing from you,
Brandon
