5 Spring Smoothie Recipes

Spring is here! It's time to take advantage of the fresh fruit and vegetables and make some refreshing smoothies! Smoothies are full of vitamins and antioxidants, and are perfect for warm spring days. Here are some healthy and delicious smoothie recipes for you to welcome the season!

1. Triple Berry Smoothie

Triple Berry


Ingredients:
1 Banana
1 c. frozen strawberries
1 c. frozen blackberries, plus more for garnish
1 1/4 c. almond milk
1/2 c. greek yogurt

Instructions: 
1. In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth
2. Divide between 2 cups, and top with blackberries, if desired

2. Perfect Green Smoothie

Green Smoothie


Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. unsweetened almond milk
1 c. chopped spinach (fresh or frozen)
1/2 c. chopped kale (fresh or frozen)
1 medium banana
2 tbsp. almond butter
1 tbsp. chia seeds
2 tsp. honey

Instructions: 
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth

3. Banana Blueberry Smoothie
Banana Blueberry
Ingredients: 
1 very ripe banana, broken into chunks
1 c. frozen blueberries
1/2 to 1 c. unsweetened plain or vanilla dairy-free milk
1/2 c. fresh or frozen baby spinach leaves
1 tbsp. ground flaxseed
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. ground cinnnamon
1/2 c. ice
Honey, agave nectar, or stevia, to taste

Instructions:
1. Put the banana, frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup milk, spinach, flax seed, and cinnamon in your blender. Blend until smooth, about 1 minute
2. For a thinner smoothie, blend in up to 1/2 cup more milk. For a frostier treat, blend in the ice
3. Taste test the sweetener
4. Pour into 1 or 2 glasses to serve immediately 

4. Piña Colada Protein Smoothie
Pina Colada
Ingredients:
1 can coconut milk
1 banana 
2/3 c. frozen pinapple
1/3 c. frozen mango
1 scoop protein powder
Pineapple wedge, for garnish

Instructions: 
1. Combine coconut milk, banana, pineapple, mango, and protein powder in a blender and blend on high until smooth
2. Garnish with a wedge of pineapple and serve

5. PB&J Smoothie
PB&J Smoothie
Ingredients: 
1 medium banana
1/2 c. almond milk
2 tbsp. peanut butter
1/2 c. frozen strawberries
1/2 c. ice

Instructions: 
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Pour into a glass
2. Drizzle with additional peanut butter if desired. If your peanut butter is too thick to drizzle, place it in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for about 30 seconds until thinned; it should be easier to drizzle when warm.
