Stay Motivated

Stay Motivated

We all struggle with motivation from time to time. It can be hard to start a specific project, exercise, or eat right. It can be especially hard to stay motivated when life throws challenges and obstacles your way, but it's important to keep going. If you're looking for that little push of motivation to help you get started or keep going, I've got some tips for you today.

Practice Gratitude

Practicing the act of daily gratitude can help train your brain to focus on the good things in your life. Each day (or night), take a few moments to write down one to three things you're grateful for. Doing this may help you boost your confidence and, in turn, help increase your motivation.

Set Clear Goals

Often times, it can be hard to find the motivation to do something when your goals are unclear. Without a goal in mind, you may find yourself wondering why you even want to start doing something in the first place.

Take a moment and really think about the why. You can even write down your short-term and your long-term goals to help you visualize them. Understanding your goal may just be the key to getting that motivation started.

Find Support

Having a good support system can be a huge help when it comes to finding the motivation to start something. It's often easier to find motivation for your goals if you have others invested and excited to share the experience with you. This support can come from friends, family members, or even professionals, like a life coach. Having the additional guidance and invaluable support can really kickstart your motivation.

Celebrate

Big or small, celebrate your victories. For some, a small achievement can be just as valuable as the biggest one on your list. Celebrating isn’t just fun; it helps you continue the momentum and keeps your motivation high for future goals.

Give Yourself a Break

It can be tough to stay on track. To stay motivated, you need to give yourself some breaks. Understand that you may hit some bumps in the road, but these setbacks are normal. It's important not to let them stop you from moving forward and achieving your goal.

Be Kind to Yourself

Repeat words of affirmation to yourself while you look in the mirror every morning. It may sound a little silly, but as soon as you start telling yourself more positive things like "you can do this" or "you're awesome," you'll eventually start to believe it.

Practice being patient with yourself. Any progress will take time, so you need to give yourself grace.

Allow yourself to say no. Being kind to yourself also means setting boundaries and letting others know that you can not and will not overwork yourself.

Get Some Sleep

Sleep is important for your health. Not getting enough sleep can negatively impact your mood, concentration, and energy levels. Lack of energy and concentration can lead to lack of motivation.

You should be getting between 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night to make sure you're well rested and ready for the day.

Have Fun

Most importantly, have fun. Come up with new or creative ways to achieve your goals. If you're not having fun or you're not enjoying the progress you're making, it can be hard to stay motivated.
